Infants

6 weeks to ~15 months

Overview

Our infant program balances responsive and respectful attention to the child’s natural rhythms and cues with a nurturing environment that encourages exploration and growth. Communication with families and careful observation of each child create a foundation of trust between children, teachers, and parents. Individualized schedules and care are integrated into a daily routine filled with opportunities for joyful exploration and activities that engage all of the children’s senses.

Enrollment Options

Our Infant program is offered five days a week, full-day, to provide the consistency and continuity that very young children need. At this early stage of development, strong relationships, predictable routines, and a steady rhythm of care are essential to a child’s sense of security and well-being.

Daily Schedule Elements

The flow of the day in the infant program is guided by the children’s natural patterns and needs. We prioritize building healthy attachments with each child to ensure that they feel safe, comfortable, and supported. We provide even our youngest children with opportunities for social, physical, and cognitive growth through a thoughtfully curated space filled with open ended materials that encourage the children’s natural curiosity and innate ability to learn through exploration. Allowing for flexibility to respect the child’s individual needs, each day in the infant program will include:

  • Open-ended sensory exploration with a variety of rotating materials and experiences

  • Feeding and rest times, guided by each child’s individual needs

  • Exposure to language through reading, singing, and conversation

  • Access to materials that can be mouthed and manipulated (and easily disinfected!)

  • Opportunities for outdoor play (weather permitting)

We strive to support and encourage our infants as they develop and grow by providing them with a gently stimulating environment and respectful, responsive interactions with the teachers and other children.
